Shelby Horner shares his AWESOME music with I Am Entertainment Magazine and scores a 3.25 out of 4!

Songwriting - 3.5 || Music - 3.25 || Vocal Performance - 3.0 Web: www.shelbyhorner.com Location: Springfield, TN Genre: Country Key Tracks: You Won't Be Lonely Long

An awesome songwriter and musician, Shelby Horner brings a brand of country music on his latest project, KEEP ME OFF THE STREETS, that qualifies him to be classified as a true artist.

If you listen to "You Won't Be Lonely Long" and don't start tapping your toes and nodding your head then you, my friend, have no pulse. The minute this song came on I was all ears. This song shows why Shelby is such a great songwriter. Guys know which women will have no problem getting another man after a break-up, and here, Shelby confirms that fact in such a creative way that I couldn't help but agree with his perspective. I liked it so much I played it three times before moving on. Great song!

Other great tunes available from Shelby include: Keep Me Off The Street, I'm No Pushover Now, and Hellbent On Havin' Fun. Every track represents the awesomeness that is Shelby Horner the artist, musician and songwriter.

Overall, KEEP ME OFF THE STREET is a really good country music project that offers a lot of cool songs by one of the Tennessee's great and talented musicians. I would recommend any country music fan to check out Shelby Horner and gain access to his wonderful work.

MUSICAL GOAL: "For me, I would have to say, my goal is to have everyone feel the music and to be true to myself when writing or getting new material for my albums." - Shelby Horner

Beautiful ballads and quality fast-paced songs

Shelby Horner's music appears on first listen to blend together a touch of James Taylor with a big dash of George Strait, the end result is some amazing music, succulent ballads and high quality songs that really deserve to be heard more than once. Shelby's music is modern country but with a pure feel to it. Shelby has been skirting with success for many years with many critics saying 2010 will be his year, the year he finally makes it big.

The album starts off with the title number Keep Me Off The Street. This is a pleasant ballad, pleasing on the ear. Shelby's vocals are strong and interesting packed with plenty of character and emotion. There is a certain charm in Shelby's vocal style.

Faith And Farmin' is a faster rockier song with a strong message.

Baby I Bet is a delicious slow song. The lyrics are perfectly written and worth a close listen. Shelby's vocals are spot on.

None Of The Above is an upbeat modern county song, which has a touch of Garth Brooks about it.

Can We Dance is a magical ballad. Shelby’s vocals take on a wonderful velvety quality and definitely remind me of James Taylor.

Northern Born Southern Bred is a rousing rock/country song. Shelby’s vocals remind me of Waylon Jennings, thoroughly modern but with a distinct old country twist.

Take A Chance is a dreamy slow ballad.

You Won't Be Lonely Long is a strong modern country song with a catchy vibe. This is definitely a radio friendly number.

Hellbent On Havin' Fun is a punchy modern country song.

Two Souls is an infectious ballad. Once again Shelby sounds a little like James Taylor. Shelby sings with a lot of passion and emotion really bringing the song to life and giving it a life all of its own.

The album ends with I'm No Pushover Now. This is a strong up-tempo song with great vocals.

This album is a real joy to listen to. The ballads, of which there are many, are delicate and soulful. The upbeat rock/country songs are all done well and merit a place on the album.

____________________________________________________________________ Shelby Horner - Humble And Ambitious

Written by Lisa Giaramita

For a successful independent artist, it takes courage and a great deal of perseverance to rise to the top. And for one to be so humble in the ever-changing music industry, it takes a pure love of music and integrity to remain there. One such artist is Shelby Horner.

Shelby was raised to believe that it’s always important to remember where you came from. He doesn’t take his upbringing for granted. Originally from Illinois, Shelby and his family eventually relocated to Colorado while in his early teens. Music became a strong part of his life then, and he immediately fell in love with singing. He always found a way to surround himself with music and began his musical journey by singing in church and school choirs.

Though Shelby’s influences vary, his heart has always been attracted to country music. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee in the fall of 1996 and continues to reside there to pursue his venture of becoming a successful country artist. As Shelby describes his sound, “I’m kind of eclectic. I’m a farm boy from Illinois. I like a lot of stuff. I like Rock, I like Classical, I like Traditional, and I like a whole bunch of different genres of music. My music is a mixture of the traditional Country, Bluegrass, and a little bit of Soul and Rock.”

Shelby Horner primarily plays rhythm guitar, sings, and writes. Shelby is an exceptional songwriter. His first album, The Rest Of The Dream, showcases his talent as a songwriter and an artist. Two singles released from this album have received nationwide airplay on small and medium radio markets.

Shelby’s musicianship is constantly evolving. With his sophomore album entitled Keep Me Off The Street, which is available now for digital download through iTunes and CD Baby, he is sure to make his fans proud. Produced by Shelby and Scott Tutt (first producer for Alabama), the album features eleven tracks, some of which were co-written by Shelby and other incredible songwriters.

Shelby’s fans are very important to him. They fuel his ambition. They have always been a great influence on him as a human being and an artist. “I really do appreciate all the fans that are my fans, and hopefully will be my fans later on. I read everything that they e-mail to me or that they put on my Facebook. I might not be able to get back to them sometimes, but I do read everything. I want them to know that for a fact, that I do care about them.”

As Shelby embarks on his upcoming tour to promote his new album, he says, “We’re thinking about getting some more fans out there. Trying to get out there on radio. I want them to know that even though we’re artists, we’re still just like them. We still put on our pants the same way. We still have problems at home. We still have the aches and pains, and everything like that. It just might be a little different. Don’t put us too far up there on a pedestal because if we do that, sometimes we forget who we are because we’re out there too far. I try to be as humble as possible.”

Shelby also believes it’s important to give back to our fellow human beings. “I’m all about helping the communities. We try to help out the communities with what we have.” When you get a chance to attend one of Shelby’s performances, you’ll notice that he also expresses a way of giving back through his music.

Written by Lisa Giaramita

On the evening of July 20, 2010 at the Red Rooster in Nashville, Tennessee, Strum Magazine had a gathering of wonderful musicians and songwriters to celebrate the publication’s 2010 Music Madness Poll.

Shelby Horner was among the line-up of performers that evening. He closed out the show with a powerful set delivered by a full band of outstanding musicians. With Shelby on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, John Damian on lead guitar and vocals, Cy Queen on keyboard and vocals, Steve Quillen on bass guitar, and Greg Verdone on drums, there couldn’t have been a better group of musicians to end the night.

Most of Shelby Horner’s set included a preview of songs to be featured on his upcoming album release entitled Keep Me Off The Street. With a Country/Rock sound, Shelby demonstrates an energy that is a reflection of his roots. Shelby’s first tune, “You Won't Be Lonely Long,” had a mid-tempo feel that was the perfect start. It was followed by the ballad “In The Right Place,” the fast-tempo “Kid Gloves,” the ballad “Take A Chance,” upbeat ballad “Keep Me Off The Street,” and the perfect ending with the up-tempo “I'm No Pushover Now.”

Shelby and his band had the audience’s attention from the beginning. They made a memorable evening for Strum Magazine even more memorable. The only regrettable moment was that they didn’t perform a longer set. Maybe they’ll grace us with their presence again at Strum’s next major event. Until then, visit Shelby Horner’s website at www.shelbyhornermusic.com.
